Dr. Anastassia Lauterbach, former Wirecard Supervisory Board Member, and Pav Gill, the in-house counsel turned \u201cwhistleblower\u201d who exposed the fraud, will join us to give their personal accounts of the scandal which brought down Europe\u2019s largest fintech.<\/p>\n<p>Wirecard, a German payments company which offered electronic payment transaction and risk management services, was known for its rapid growth and success and was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. However, in June 2020, the company collapsed into insolvency after a Financial Times investigation revealed that the company had inflated its revenue, boosted its profits through fraudulent activities, and manipulated accounting records. Subsequent investigation into the fraud found a \u20ac1.9 billion hole in Wirecard\u2019s accounts, making it one of Europe\u2019s biggest corporate frauds.<\/p>\n<p>The scandal shook the financial industry and raised serious questions about the effectiveness of financial regulations and oversight. It also forced the reform of Germany\u2019s institutions and destroyed the reputation of the company\u2019s auditors.<\/p>\n<p>Join us for an exclusive insight into the scandal from those on the inside.
